Classroom Support Assistants 

Scale 6 Teaching Assistants

Grade 6 £28,509 pa to £29,360 pa
32.5 hours per week
39 weeks, term-time only (including training days)

About the school:

Castlebar School is an outstanding special school for primary aged children with severe and complex learning difficulties. We are looking for enthusiastic, suitably qualified and experienced classroom support staff to join our school, who have a passion for education and commitment to working alongside the teachers to provide a high quality learning environment. The main purpose of the role:

*Working alongside the teaching staff to support our young people in their learning

*Support our young people to identify, meet and exceed their education targets

*A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

About you:   

*Commitment to the role and ethos of the school

*Experience of working within an inclusive setting (3 years), including relevant knowledge and experience of young people within age range

*Experience of managing a range of approaches, including managing behaviours that challenge, skills in differentiated learning and multisensory techniques

*Good numeracy and literacy skills (GCSE English and Maths – minimum grade 4 or equivalent is essential, to be tested at interview)

*NVQ qualification (level 2/3 or its equivalent)

*Competent ICT skills

*An optimistic, enthusiastic and motivated approach

*Be able to work on your own as well as part of a team

*Work collaboratively with other team members and professionals with good interpersonal skills
