Job description

Permanent 32.5 hours pw term time

We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to join our hardworking and successful department. Each member of the team is linked to a curriculum area and specific area of need. We hope that the successful candidate will work with students with social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

Elthorne Park High School is a successful and significantly oversubscribed 11-18 mixed school with 1400 students including 250 in the Sixth Form, based in the Queen of suburbs, Ealing. Essential requirements include:

*Very good numeracy and literacy skills.

*Recent experience of working with relevant age groups within a learning environment and with children with additional needs

*Recent experience of delivering an intervention to a group of students and on an individual basis

*Experience of working in an educational setting

 

About you

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

*Ability to work well as part of a team.

*Good working knowledge of national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes

*An ability to understand the principles of child development and learning processes and in particular barriers to learning.

*Ability to observe, monitor and provide constructive feedback on pupils progress.

*Ability to contribute to plan effective actions for pupils at risk of underachieving.

*Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with pupils, treating them equitably with respect and consideration.

*Ability to understand the roles of parents and carers in students’ learning and demonstrate ability to liaise with parents and carers sensitively and effectively.

*Ability to provide necessary personal care to children.

*Ability to successfully complete first aid training as required.

*To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.

*Understand the impact of mental health on students in a school setting and how best to support them
