Job description

32.5 hours per week. 39 weeks, term time only (TTO). Monday to Friday: 8:35am – 3:35pm.

Start date: 4th November 2024

 

John Chilton School is a special school judged as Good with evidence that it may be regraded Outstanding (OFSTED February 2024) for pupils aged 4 to 19 years, with cognitive difficulties with or without a physical or medical need. We aim for our pupils to become confident, independent and motivated members of the community.

John Chilton School is based across two sites The successful applicant must be able to commit to working at both sites as required.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • *Working with children of primary and secondary age who have special educational needs.
  • *Under the supervision of the Learning Mentor, to research, plan, deliver  and assess behaviour nurture-based SEMH  interventions for  individuals and groups of pupils, creating programmes with colleagues
  • *To support the Learning Mentor to deliver and resource SEMH-based interventions with a range of identified pupils across the school, with support as required.

 

Required:

  • *Wide experience of working within the mental health field
  • *Experience of working with pupils with additional needs to promote positive behaviour
  • *Experience of working with and engaging children and young people with complex and profound additional needs.
  • *To have knowledge of complex special needs and being able to use appropriate programmes such as Makaton and ICT software for communication.
