Job description

Ealing Council are working to make Ealing a great place for children and young people to grow up and are promoting the welfare, education, skills and future employment of children.

The School Bursarial Service are a team of experienced finance and education specialists offering a client focused service covering operational finance support and strategic finance consultancy. The team support a large number of high performing maintained schools across the borough. As a traded service we offer a range of flexible and comprehensive support options to schools to suit their needs. We work across all ages, phases and types of maintained education provision.

The service is committed to providing efficient, professional, flexible, front-line support from a team with diverse experience and a variety of qualifications. To maintain standards and capacity to support schools and the LA, we are looking for an experienced professional with a strong finance background.

You will provide front line support to schools, collecting, collating, maintaining, analysing and reporting on finance data, and monitoring outcomes in relation to schools’ financial performance.

You will be supporting schools in producing and interpreting both financial and non-financial performance information and data, meeting statutory reporting requirements, modelling and planning for the impact of risks and opportunities including all aspects of income and expenditure, and internal and external risk factors.

We ensure continuous development so that our practice is of a high quality. We make ongoing improvements to our service, strengthening the way we work to increase levels of financial knowledge, sustainability and resilience within schools. You will design and deliver training and support the Head of Service in the development of the service, its systems and processes.

You will need to be a confident communicator and excel at working in partnership with stakeholders at all levels. Partnership working is at the heart of our approach and we work closely with schools, internal services and departments, other LA’s, central government, education professionals, contractors and other stakeholders.
