This role is suitable for ECTs.

We are looking to appoint a committed professional with successful middle and senior leadership experience, to the role of Psychology Teacher at William Perkin CE High School.  William Perkin Church of England High School was opened in 2013 and is part of the Twyford Church of England Academies Trust. Its GCSE results in its first two years of exams placed it in the top 10 schools in the country in terms of progress and it has grown a large and flourishing sixth form. The school is founded on the successful systems and approaches of Twyford CE High School, with the principle difference that it is a distinctively Christian school with open admission criteria.  The school is rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted (June 2015) and SIAMS (October 2016) and is oversubscribed on first choice applicants.

We offer Psychology at A level only and it is a very popular subject choice with 4 classes running this year. There are currently 46 students studying Psychology in Y13 and 51 students in Y12, all of whom will continue into Y13 next year. Students taking Psychology must secure a grade 6 in GCSE English Literature or Language and a grade 6 in GCSE Maths.

Our KS5 lessons have differentiated outcomes for each lesson to ensure we deliver the best possible curriculum for students of all abilities. The curriculum and assessment frameworks are stored on the school’s VLE (‘Copia’) to ensure that all materials are accessible for students, parents and staff.

The successful candidate will have:

  • *A good degree and Qualified Teacher Status
  • *Ability to teach KS5 Psychology
  • *Knowledge of the requirements of the National Curriculum
  • *An understanding of recent curriculum / learning developments
  • *An understanding of the strategies required to motivate and enthuse all students across the ability range as part of a whole school approach to raising achievement
  • *An understanding of the processes and techniques required to assess, record and report students’ learning effectively
  • *Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement
  • *Energy and enthusiasm
  • *A commitment to the ethos of the school.

 

The Twyford Trust comprises four schools in the London Borough of Ealing.
