39 weeks, term-time only (including training days)

We have a vacancy for a Pastoral Support Worker to join 5 others in the PSW team. This role combines year team responsibilities with coordination of the school’s pastoral intervention menu and includes support of the school’s safeguarding leads with operational safeguarding matters. The role is ideally suited to someone with existing pastoral experience who is seeking a new challenge and an opportunity to have an impact in managing support for the school’s most vulnerable students. The hours are 8.30am to 4.00pm term time.

About you

Candidates should preferably have:

*Experience of working in secondary education; mentoring, counselling, youth work or similar.

*Experience of working in the field of safeguarding.

*Experience of mentoring, counselling or teaching students of secondary school age.

*Ability to allocate students to appropriate interventions, liaise with appropriate professionals, map and evaluate their progress.

*Ability to mentor students individually and in groups to improve their attendance, academic performance and behaviour, using an appropriate range of strategies.

*Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a range of stakeholders and be able to use IT operating systems competently.

*Ability to work as part of a team and possess skills to negotiate and consult effectively.

*Ability to prioritise, plan and organise work under pressure and to use data to track student progress and prepare reports for a range of stakeholders.

*Ability to form good working relationships with students, parents and outside agencies.
