The Edward Betham CE Primary School is looking to appointment an enthusiastic and reliable Part-Time Teaching Assistant to join our high-achieving two-form entry school. Edward Betham was graded as a ‘Good’ school by Ofsted in 2024, and an ‘Excellent’ school by SIAMS in 2022.
We are looking to appoint a part-time (26 hours 15 minutes) Teaching Assistant as soon as possible. Duties will include small group work and in-class support across EYFS and Key Stage 1, general in-class and lunchtime support.
This post may be of interest to someone looking to train as a teacher or Higher Level Teaching Assistant in the future. Further training will be provided for suitable candidates.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Previous experience of working with children with additional needs
- An understanding of autism (preferably, a certificated course related to autism)
- A warm manner, yet an ability to maintain firm and clear boundaries for behaviour, learning and social communication
- Excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills
- A secure understanding of synthetic phonics and how children learn to read
- Ability to work in a team and make a positive contribution to raising standards and making all adults and children feel part of the school
- A positive, pro-active approach to supporting pupils’ social and behavioural needs
- Experience of running intervention programmes (e.g. Numeracy/literacy programmes for lower attaining pupils and pupils with additional needs)
