Head of Social Sciences Faculty – to start September 2022
Salary: Main Professional Grade (MPS/UPS) plus TLR 2c (£7,017pa)
We are looking to appoint a committed professional with successful middle and senior leadership experience, to the role of Head of Social Sciences Faculty at William Perkin CE High School. William Perkin Church of England High School was opened in 2013 and is part of the Twyford Church of England Academies Trust. Its GCSE results in its first two years of exams placed it in the top 10 schools in the country in terms of progress and it has grown a large and flourishing sixth form. The school is founded on the successful systems and approaches of Twyford CE High School, with the principle difference that it is a distinctively Christian school with open admission criteria. The school is rated ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted (June 2015) and SIAMS (October 2016) and is oversubscribed on first choice applicants.
The role of Head of Social Sciences Faculty is an exciting opportunity for an innovative teacher and curriculum planner who is ready to take on departmental leadership. The successful candidate will have responsibility for building the department in terms of curriculum planning and progress monitoring within the framework of the existing Trust curriculum model. The Head of Social Sciences Faculty will ensure that the quality of teaching and learning in the department is consistently high and will contribute to the development of a culture of sharing good practice. This position would be suited to a current teacher or subject leader of psychology ready for additional responsibility.
The new post-holder will be an outstanding classroom practitioner with an ability to lead training in teaching and learning. She/he will have experience of achieving outstanding student outcomes across a range of abilities and will be an excellent analyst of student performance data. They will be enthused by the prospect of leading and managing others to achieve common goals.

- *Some experience of managing or implementing pastoral systems and initiatives
- *Some experience of managing others / managing change
- *Ability to be reflective and driven towards self-improvement
