Job Title: Chef Manager
Reporting to: Head of School and School Business Manager

Hours of work: 07:30-15:30, 35 hour week, term-time only
Salary: £27,000 to £29,000 dependant on experience and qualifications

St Mary’s a welcoming Church of England School in Southall, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SMSA to join our friendly and committed staff team. This is a unique opportunity for someone to join our staff team to set up and manage our in house catering team, including cooking at breakfast club.

The role involves the planning and implementing of all the necessary menu planning, food ordering and preparation, but also the opportunity to engage with our health education curriculum encouraging our pupils to be aware of the health benefits of good nutrition and how to make balanced food choices.

Main duties and responsibilities:

*To maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen area.
*Day to day supervision of the kitchen team.
*To engage with any food/health related projects within school
*Prepare all meals and foods in accordance with an agreed seasonal weekly menu.
*To adhere fully to recipes, food presentation standards and portion control.
*Have a working knowledge of cooking methods and procedures such as blanching, and refreshing, searing, grilling, and steaming.
*Prepare meals to meet specific dietary requirements and ensure that the school menu offers options that will meet cultural requirements.
*Ensure freezer and fridge temperatures logs are maintained on a daily basis.
*Be responsible for monitoring of food hygiene and safety measures.
*Check supplier delivery notes against orders and report discrepancies.
*Undertake stock taking monthly maintaining food stock levels and checking of dates.
*Maintain a weekly and monthly cleaning regime for all the kitchen equipment.
*Take part in pertinent meetings and training organised in school.
*Work as part of a team and contribute to school life supporting our ethos.
*Adhere to any health and safety and food safety policy in place. For example: food temperature control, fridge and freezer temperature monitoring, food labelling and cleaning schedules.
