We are an ‘outstanding’ mixed secondary school in Ealing and are looking to appoint a full time or part time DT technician to join our Art and Design faculty. The successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and qualities:
- Ability to adhere to and implement the school’s equal opportunities policy.
- Good organisational skills and ability to set up and follow administrative procedures and systems.
- Experience of working with a range of materials.
- Ability to carry out basic repairs to equipment or liaise with other agencies when necessary.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both staff and students.
- Ability to work independently without close supervision.
- Ability to work under pressure set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to organise and manage resources
- Able to construct and develop equipment and apparatus (involving modification / manufacturing) for teaching purposes.
- An ability to handle wood/metal/plastic and graphic materials with due regard to safety.
- Knowledge of health and safety issues within a school Design Technology department.
- A good attendance and health record.
- A sound educational background with good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Have an approved workshop health & safety certificate (training can be offered in this area for the right candidate)
- Either have or be willing to be trained in a First Aid qualification
- Competence in the use of ICT.
