Ealing Council is on an ambitious journey of transformation, putting residents at the heart of what it does.  As part of ensuring the best possible outcomes for the borough’s residents, the council has created a new Strategy, Performance and Intelligence service at the centre of the council to provide a joined-up first class service to other council departments and key external partners.  If you are looking to join a team of experts, to develop and shape the new service and be part of a council that is developing innovative solutions, it is a fantastic time to join Ealing Council.

We are looking for an experienced data analyst who will sit within the Schools Performance and Intelligence team within the new central service on a fixed term (12 months), full-time contract.  Your work will support the local authority Virtual School Head teacher and team, supporting both their existing and new duties, through strategic and operational analysis of assessments, outcomes and demographic data of children known to social care.

The Virtual School Head Teacher (VSH) is a local authority champion to promote the progress and educational attainment of children and young people known to social care so that they achieve educational outcomes comparable to their peers.  The VSH and team’s purpose is to ensure that all professionals who work with looked after children, care leavers and children with a social worker, have high educational aspirations for them so that our pupils and students are given the best opportunities to engage, progress and achieve to their full potential.

You will make a major contribution to the council’s ability to use data to drive strategies and projects, identify priorities and evaluate outcomes and progress.

You will need excellent IT skills including MS Excel and PowerBI (or similar).  In addition, you will have excellent analytical skills, a strong eye for detail and be able to produce complex statistical analyses and communicate the findings in reports and presentations.

The work is varied, and as part of a diverse service, covering a range of specialisms, you will have exposure to and opportunities for development in new areas.
