Job description

We welcome applications to join our excellent Cover Team in a dynamic and rewarding role as a Cover Co-ordinator. At the start and end of each day, this dynamic role will co-ordinate meeting the learning provision needs across the school’s curriculum, alongside doing classroom cover supervision during the day as well as the opportunity to provide general administrative support.

 

Essential Requirements

Education and Experience

  1. Very good numeracy, literacy and IT skills
  2. Experience of working with relevant age groups within a learning environment
  3. Experience of working with children with additional needs
  4. Experience of general clerical/ administrative work
  5. Experience in a relevant discipline
  6. Training in relevant strategies in appropriate curriculum or learning area
  7. Ability to work independently during early mornings as well as the ability to work well as part of a team during the rest of the day
  8. Excellent communication skills, particularly in doing so with external agencies.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Ability to work well as part of a team
  2. An understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities
  3. Good working knowledge of national curriculum and other relevant learning programmes
  4. An ability to understand the principles of child development and learning processes and in particular barriers to learning
  5. Ability to observe, monitor and provide constructive feedback on pupils’ progress
  6. Good working knowledge of relevant policies and codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation
  7. Ability to contribute to plan effective actions for pupils at risk of underachieving.
  8. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with pupils, treating them equitably with respect and consideration
  9. Ability to understand the roles of parents and carers in pupils learning and demonstrate ability to liaise with parents and carers sensitively and effectively
  10. Ability to provide necessary personal care to children
  11. Ability to successfully complete first aid training as required
  12. Ability and willingness to identify own training needs and participate in training and evaluate own learning
  13. To be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the school.
