Job description

We are looking for an experienced, professional and flexible individual with great organisation skills to support our school governing body.

You will play a vital role supporting the governors by providing the leadership and guidance they need. You will oversee the organisation of meetings, record accurate minutes, and advise on changes in legislation, policy and governance issues.

Knowledge of the clerking process would be a distinct advantage and remuneration will depend on experience and ability to perform the role in full. Training opportunities will be provided.

Attendance at meetings will be essential, most of which will be late afternoon/evening however, these can be modified in agreement with the governing board. The ability to work from home and manage meetings from home is necessary, as it may not be possible to hold all meetings at the school.  Some additional hours may be required for ad hoc meetings and where further support is needed. All additional hours will be agreed with the Chair of Governors.

Applications are invited from individuals who are currently working as a Clerk to the Governors or, may have previous experience in this role.

 

Successful candidates must have:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • A passion for accuracy and attention to detail
  • The capability to work independently with exemplary time management skills
  • Good IT skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office applications at a professional level, particularly Word, Excel and video-conferencing software such as Zoom
  • The ability to build and maintain professional working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and personnel
  • A flexible and proactive attitude.
