Job description

We are looking to appoint an energetic and motivated person to work as a key member of the School Attendance and Children missing Education Team.

will be a key member of the School Attendance Team supporting the Local Authority with our statutory duty to enforce school attendance.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the issuing of Fixed Penalty Truancy Fines for non-school attendance and the monitoring and processing of fines payments and cancellations.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be the first point of contact with general enquiries from schools, partner agencies and the public.
  • Give administrative support to the team as required. including producing reports, invoicing and supporting with child employment processes.
  • Monitoring and assessing the team mailbox and forwarding information to the relevant person in the team or other departments,
  • Process placement notifications for ‘looked after children’ and record information on a pupil database and or refer cases to the Children Missing Education Officer as necessary.

 

Skills required:

Some experience of working directly with the public,
Intermediate Word and Excel – qualification or equivalent experience.
Experience of Business World invoicing data base is desirable.

The role requires the integrity and confidentiality of information, data, and records at all times. The successful candidate will attend and contribute to internal team meetings and Network meetings with schools and will undertake training, as necessary. You will be expected to work flexible hours (maximum 35 hours per week) with flexible home working arrangements.

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016
