12 Months Secondment/Fixed Term Contract

Ealing is a vibrant and rewarding place to work. It is one of London’s most diverse boroughs and has excellent amenities.

Ealing community mental health service is an integrated health and social care service. There are currently two teams who are sited in the east and west of the borough. A new configuration being implemented by West London NHS Trust will develop another base in the North of the borough in the coming months.

The Community Recovery Teams work to the recovery model and focus on maintaining and supporting people within their own communities. The drive is to foster family and local support towards achieving stability and to promote, maximise and maintain independence.

Recovery teams provide intensive and focussed interventions to help people with their mental health while focusing on strengths, building relationships and working towards training and employment. The multi-disciplinary teams have a range of professionals including social workers, occupational therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists.

The Rapid Discharge Team ensure smooth and effective discharge from hospital to the community. This small dedicated team carry out Care Act Assessments and Care Plan with service users, their families, and multidisciplinary teams towards discharge from hospital.

AMHP Service provides a MHA assessment service across Ealing. This is a small centralised team of 1xLead, 2x dedicated AMHPs and an administrator which also has access to a number of additional AMHPs provided via a rota.

The Reviews team is a centralised team of 0.5 x Lead and 5x social work staff. The team carry out annual and unscheduled reviews of all funded cases. The team carry out assessments, Reviews and engage in Safeguarding activities. This team has a great focus on promotion of independence and works closely with providers and the Community Rehab Team to support prole into lesser restrictive environments.

Secondment/Fixed Term opportunity

Currently we have a secondment/fixed term opportunity to support the work in the Reviews team and possibly our other teams . This will be for a one year period in the first instance.

The borough has a varied and diverse population and we are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic and committed to providing high quality services, and other local resources to clients with severe and enduring mental health needs.

You will be working within an integrated team, alongside West London NHS Trust to provide recovery focused treatments and interventions.

The post holder must have previous experience of assessing adults with severe and enduring mental health needs, an awareness of current legislation (including the Care Act) and proactive in supporting individuals to live as independently as possible. An awareness of promoting recovery and well-being is essential.

The successful candidate will undertake preventative and supportive work with individuals and families living within the community; formulate care plans and arrange alternative care for clients in need; keep up-to-date electronic records and reviews of current cases in consultation with senior colleagues in the team. The post holder must at all times carry out his / her duties with due regard to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

In turn Ealing mental health offers opportunities for training from both health and social care, regular supervision and you will be part of a supportive and diverse team

Qualifications required are a DipSW, CQSW or CSS level, and be a qualified AMHP or willing to undertake the AMHP training.
