Job description

Exciting part-time (2 days a week) opportunity in Housing Service


We are strengthening our review service and would like to recruit part-time (2 days a week) high calibre individual on a permanent basis to work in a busy and very specialist team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out statutory reviews of homelessness and housing register decisions under the Housing Act 1996, Parts VI and VII, so an excellent understanding of the law and either experience of making homelessness decisions or a relevant legal background is needed.


You must be an excellent communicator with a strong commitment to providing good customer service. Good IT and organisational skills is essential for this role. A pivotal skill is the ability to demonstrate extensive knowledge and understanding of Homelessness legislation and case laws coupled with hands-on experience of reviewing homelessness decisions. You will also need to have excellent investigative, negotiating, interviewing, letter writing skills for this role.


The review team delivers training and briefings on legal developments to other teams within the service. Candidate will need a clear understanding of good customer care and what makes for excellent public services. He/She will need to be able to influence colleagues and see changes through to completion.


We are seeking highly motivated person, who like a challenge, have a commitment to housing and want to help us deliver excellent services.


This role requires you to interact with customers or their representatives and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.


The role would be a hybrid of working in the office and from home with some degree of flexibility to be agreed. We would like to recruit candidates at grade 9 level.
