Job description

35 hours per week, 6 months secondment/fixed term contract. Due to the timeframe available to fund this position the applicant would be expected to start their secondment/fixed term contract as soon as possible (within 2 weeks of being offered appointment) or from 23 May until 22 November 2022.

Hybrid working encouraged, use of time off in lieu (TOIL) for meetings held outside of normal working hours subject to agreement with line manager, 12 days annual leave (excluding Bank Holidays), 24-hour employee helpline.

Key details of the role – responsibilities, accountabilities, and key contacts

You will be responsible for co-developing a support matrix for community groups currently operating in Ealing, which will include collating details about who they are, what they offer and how they work; conducting a needs analysis, and putting in place simple systems to support these needs, introducing an accredited learning system, co-delivery of an awards ceremony, and an induction process for new groups to join the matrix.

This will possible because of your effective working relationships with partners in particular; EHCVS, ECN, the CACHE network, EACH covid community engagement consortia, GOS&D, faith and local voluntary and community sector and any other agency concerned with anti-poverty and improving access to existing services, as well as Council services and elected members.

Essential qualifications and experience (if applicable)

We are looking for someone who has been working in the community, faith or charity sector over the past 6 months or more and has experience and would be comfortable with face-to-face communication particularly with people and groups who do not have English as a first language or lack confidence or trust in statutory authorities.

Location and brief description

You would be based in Perceval House, 14-16 Uxbridge Road, Ealing W5 2HL, within the Community Engagement Team and can work from home if you wish. You would be expected to walk, cycle or use public transport to attend external meetings, with travel expenses being reimbursed when claims are submitted.

Please note, the application process will follow Ealing Council’s recruitment and selection process. However, this opportunity will need to reflect the criticality of being able to deliver this project in 6 months, as set out in our Memorandum of Understanding with Department of Levelling Up, Housing and Communities. All applicants will be scored to ensure they comprehensively or partly meet the minimum criteria and will then be selected on who can start/be released soonest.

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.

This role is subject to Ealing Council’s enhanced vetting process.
