The climate action and sustainability team plays a leading role in creating the stragety and actions to support Ealing Council to achieve its commitment to become carbon neutral by 2030. The Principal Climate Action Project Officer will lead on an exciting work programme to deliver on our targets and shape our future. This role will be repsonsible for a business engagement programme and establishing a food partnership in the borough. The role offers variety, professional growth and the opportunity to make a valued contribution for the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will have the ability to build relationships, think and act strategically and prioritise work that will move the council decisively toward carbon neutrality and ecological recovery. The purpose of the role is:

  • Deliver climate action research, projects and programmes of work across the directorate and throughout the organisation
  • Develop, commission, manage, deliver and evaluate multiple projects that demonstrate climate action while ensuring the organisation is continuously improving, delivering value for money, innovating, and embedding best practice
  • Develop and put into practice knowledge, skills and experience to be an effective sustainability practitioner and thought leader
  • Develop programmes of action to support residents and businesses across the borough to commit to climate action.

To be successful in this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • High standard of communication skills
  • Proven ability to research and develop proposals
  • Demonstrate relationship and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to create processes, policies and projects.

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.

You will be expected to work 35 hours per week, remotely, in the office and at other sites within the borough as necessary to support the work. The role may also involve occasional evening work and weekends.
