Job description

It’s an exciting time to join Ealing Council. We are looking for a  qualified Principal Accountant’s to help shape our future ambitions by leading on accounting, budgeting, reporting and forecasting within the Children’s and Schools Finance Team.

About the role’s

The Principal Accountant posts covers budget setting, budget monitoring and year end closedown processes across revenue and capital programmes, as well as providing financial support to strategic projects.  This post will also lead on key statutory returns to DFE/ ESFA, plans and reports to Schools Forum and the Council.  In addition, the post will provide support to the Finance Manager in leading and developing the Team to provide great service to budget holders and other stakeholders, including schools and Schools Forum.

About you

You will need to be a fully qualified accountant for this post with local government experience. You need to be experienced in DSG and Schools accounting to apply for this post, covering schools budgets, high needs and early years

The post holders will be analytical and be able to maintain effective business partnering relationships with budget holders, managers,  elected members and Schools Forum communicating key financial information in a clear and concise manner. The ability to manage complex workloads within deadlines is important, as is the confidence to challenge and provide constructive and professional advice where necessary.

Ealing offers a hybrid working arrangement with some flexibility as to when working from our offices is required. Candidates should expect to attend the office at least 4 times per month depending on business needs.
