Job description

At Ealing Council the purpose of the HR shared service centre is to provide service excellence at a competitive cost to all customers including those in corporate offices and Ealing schools.

The Payroll team are responsible for the delivery of a monthly payroll, paying approximately 15,000 people made up of employees, pensioners and third party customers, using Midland MHR iTrent payroll system.

You will be passionate about customer service with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills to establish credibility within the council and with its customer base and suppliers. In addition, you must have the ability to analyse a wide variety of information using standard IT packages such as Excel.

Confidence, flexibility, tenacity, ability to work to tight deadlines and ambition to assist the HR shared service centre in delivering its business objectives are a pre-requisite.

To be successful you must have good ICT Skills and willingness to learn.

Ability to be flexible and manage own work within changing business demands and priorities.

Ability to take ownership for HR/payroll queries received and see through to resolution.

High level of customer service skills, always remaining professional to deal effectively and efficiently with internal & external customers in an operationally demanding environment.

Ability to provide guidance and advice to managers on varying payroll issues.

Ability to produce accurate documentation in a timely manner e.g. payroll letters.

Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Understanding of payroll legislation, tax, and legal regulations or willingness to learn.

Ability to prioritise tasks effectively to meet conflicting deadlines.

Ability to use own initiative and work effectively with minimum supervision

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016
