Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced social work practitioner to join the London Borough of Ealing LADO Service as a Local Authority Designated Officer. We are a small, busy and supportive service and part of Ealing’s Safeguarding, Quality Assurance and Professional Standard’s Unit.

We are looking for a self-motivated professional to join us full time.  This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join the statutory safeguarding service continuing to raise awareness around allegation management and the role of the LADO.

You will be responsible for managing safeguarding consultations and allegations concerning members of staff that hold a position of trust within the children’s workforce.  You will work closely with colleagues from a variety of agencies to ensure allegations are investigated robustly and effectively with a child-centred focus, whilst also being balanced against an understanding of the needs of the setting and employee.

You will also support conferencing service where appropriate and necessary.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure application to the Disclosure and Barring service and registration as a qualified Social Worker with Social Work England.

The candidate will report directly to the Service Manager Reviewing Safeguarding and Quality Assurance. You can expect to receive support from your head of service to help you to grow and develop in the role and determine your management style. Ealing Council has an excellent training program and offers coaching support for managers new to the council.

If you believe you have the required experience, skills, and abilities to exceed in either of these roles, we would like to hear from you.

How to apply

If you are interested, you should submit application online demonstrating how you meet the criteria set out in the person specification on the role profile attached.  Please remember to provide concrete examples on how you meet these points when writing your supporting statement.

As a disability confident employer, we are committed to supporting equitable opportunities for all applicants. We operate a guaranteed interview scheme for candidates with disabilities who meet the minimum criteria for the job. This post is subject to Ealing council’s enhanced vetting process.
