Job description

Are you an employment lawyer looking for a new challenge?

We are a highly regarded in-house department looking to expand by recruiting an employment lawyer to join our busy and friendly team.

The main focus of the role is to provide legal advice to officers, councillors and maintained schools on a diverse range of employment matters including litigation, TUPE issues, settlement agreements and internal policy and procedure.

You will report to the senior lawyer and will manage and prioritise your own caseload, including conducting advocacy where appropriate.

You will be a practising solicitor, barrister or legal executive or hold the equivalent position in another jurisdiction that specialises in employment law of England and Wales.

The successful candidate will also be expected to advise and represent the Council in the Special Education Needs and Disability Tribunal. Experience of this area and also working in a local authority environment is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.

You will have excellent communication and IT skills and have the ability to work as a team player.

We offer a range of benefits including flexible and hybrid working. The post is career graded and is currently remunerated in the £49,083.00 to £57,201.00 gross per annum salary range.

We are based in modern offices close to the transport links of Ealing Broadway and the lively amenities of Ealing town centre.

This role is subject to Ealing’s enhanced vetting process.

Ealing Council is committed to creating good jobs and delivering on its connected communities’ agenda. We are committed to equality of opportunity, to being fair and inclusive.

We therefore welcome applications from all residents of the borough, we particularly welcome applications from candidates who are entering the employment market in the early stages of their career and mid-career professionals, who are currently underrepresented in Ealing’s workforce.

Please note all applications will be determined on merit.
