As the Head of Innovation and Service Development, you will:

  • Lead Change: Champion strategic improvements to enhance outcomes for children and families.
  • Innovate: Develop cutting-edge solutions and foster a culture of excellence.
  • Collaborate: Build strong relationships to drive effective service delivery.
  • Shape the Future: Anticipate trends and ensure our services are always one step ahead.

As the go-to leader for innovation, you’ll steer impactful projects, manage resources wisely, and make a real difference in our community.

There are several core responsibilities the role will fulfil, including:

  • Foster positive internal relationships across the directorate and organisation to identify opportunities to collaborate, garner support for improvement initiatives and improve service delivery
  • Establish and lead a small team of specialist resources to lead the delivery of this work
  • Effectively manage budgets and resources, optimising financial resources to achieve maximum impact on service delivery
  • Identify and anticipate future trends and needs in children’s services and incorporate these insights into the strategic planning and development of services
  • Establish a forward-looking vision for the service, setting ambitious but achievable goals for improvement and development
  • Develop a roadmap for the implementation of new technologies and innovative practices that can enhance service delivery and outcomes

Our ideal Head of Innovation and Service Development will have the below skills and experience:

  • Specialist knowledge and awareness of the variety of current issues and developments affecting children and young people and Children’s Services
  • A clear understanding of the variety of services delivered to children and young people
  • Sound knowledge of programme and/project management methodology
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the technical, behavioural, and contextual elements of continuous improvement and organisational change
  • Knowledge of relevant current legislation, the key national and local policy issues, and of the challenges being set by the changing agenda relating to local government
  • Excellent ability to lead change, including ability to lead change with senior professionals
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent, and hold a relevant qualification in continuous improvement and/or change management
  • Have demonstrable experience of successfully leading and implementing major change initiatives in the public or private sector
