Job description

 About us:

Ealing Council’s Economy & Sustainability Directorate are now actively recruiting to a permanent position a new Head of Development to support a development and regeneration programme of £3billion plus in value consisting of several regeneration projects, a direct build programme, over £100m GLA housing investment, and an emerging forward programme spanning many years.

The council has ambitious housing targets to deliver with its partners 4,000 Genuinely Affordable Homes by 2026 – and is already on the way to achieving this.

We are looking for an experienced candidate with strong commercial acumen who is used to working autonomously with an excellent understanding of housing development and regeneration and managing complex projects from inception to completion.

 

Successful candidate will have:

  • Extensive practical knowledge and experience of development, construction, contracts and sales, as well as detailed Knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Extensive experience of investment and development appraisal systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and robust technical monitoring and reporting skills
  • Proven track record of problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong Commercial and business awareness, quality orientation, risk management and commitment to continuous self-improvement
  • Self-motivated with flexibility to adapt to changing workload demands and organisational challenges.
  • An inclusive team leader and team player who fosters partnerships.
  • Achievement drive, tenacity, able to maintain focus, objectivity and sound judgement in complex situations.
  • Demonstrable ability in managing effective and professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary development and regeneration environment and acting as ‘Client’.
  • Experience of the detailed design, contract documentation and administration associated with the development of multiple schemes within a large and complex development programme.
  • Strong external awareness, thinking beyond own area of professional expertise
  • Extensive experience with a proven track record of the successful management and delivery of complex development and regeneration projects.
  • Educated to at least degree level (preferably property / development or planning related)) with full membership of property-related professional body eg Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI),
  • Qualified by experience with demonstrable extensive property development and regeneration experience
