Job description

Here at Ealing Council, our Property Services department provide professional Hard and Soft Facilities Management solutions to a mixed property portfolio of 137 corporate and community based sites (non-housing) including; head office accommodation, libraries, leisure, community centres and sites offering community based services.

We have a passion and vision to deliver a customer centric Facilities Management service delivering best value for the council providing a safe and complaint environment across the property portfolio supporting the council’s staff and building users in the provision of services to local residents and communities.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and organised individual who enjoys a challenge and can work independently and competently under pressure.

You will be the qualified supervisor (QS) for the council’s Gas Safe corporate membership, supervising the quality and compliance of all Gas work to ensure it meets the necessary requirements.

You will also be supporting the Gas Safe principal duty holder (PDH) in their role to ensure that;

• There are safe systems of work in place ensuring that all gas work undertaken is carried out by competent persons.

• All gas trade staff and contractors are fully briefed and supervised to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of themselves and the site/building users or visitors always

What you will need:

1. Relevant ACS gas safety certificates of competence for domestic, and commercial gas installations.

2. Experience of working on and maintaining complex and varied plant and equipment in a business-critical environment in both Domestic and a commercial environment.

3. A sound working knowledge of health and safety procedures related to gas safety disciplines.

4. Experience in carrying out systematic periodic inspections and the preparation of forward maintenance programs and estimates.

5. Experience in the supervision and delivery of building maintenance work in accordance with pre-planned programs and budgets.

6. A proven track record of effectively managing capital and revenue budgets to agreed outcomes and within a ‘value-for-money’ environment.

7. Proven experience of serving a diverse community through impartial and accessible technical advice.

8. Sound technical knowledge and experience including understanding of statutory obligations in relation to Gas Safety installations and their impact on Health and Safety.

9. Gas Safe Registered.

10. Experience of asset management and the control of H&S assets.

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
