Job description

Ealing Council’s Parks Team is responsible for taking a proactive role in formulating and implementing the Council’s work in ecology and biodiversity. Additionally, the Parks Team work closely with local community groups and volunteers, whilst promoting, protecting and enhancing conservation sites.

As Ecology Officer of the Parks Team you will play a pivotal role in implementing the Council’s Biodiversity Action Plan and ensure compliance with the Council’s statutory obligations with regard to planning applications and policy with regard to nature conservation.

You will undertake fieldwork, surveys and reporting of biodiversity sites for the purposes of offsetting BNG, Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation, Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANGs) and other ecological monitoring.

As a successful candidate you will have an appropriate and related professional qualification (such as a degree level or post graduate level with formal qualification in relevant subject such as ecology, environmental management or environmental planning), have experience of working in the parks and open spaces environment and experience working in a planning advisory capacity.

This role is subject to Ealing’s enhanced vetting process.
