Join Us in Shaping a Financially Resilient Future for Ealing

We are seeking an experienced and visionary financial leader to join Ealing Council as our Director of Finance (Deputy S151), a pivotal role that supports the Strategic Director, Resources in ensuring the council’s financial sustainability and excellence.

This is more than a finance role—it’s a chance to help shape public services that make a difference to residents’ lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as Director of Finance (Deputy S151), leading the council’s financial management in the Strategic Director’s absence.
  • Lead the development and delivery of the Medium-Term Financial Strategy, capital programme, and annual budget for both the General Fund and HRA.
  • Provide strategic and technical financial advice to senior leaders and councillors, supporting transformation and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Oversee financial governance, audit, investment, treasury, business partnering, and capital delivery through a high-performing, customer-focused finance team.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation, leveraging technology to enhance financial services.
  • A collaborative, inclusive, and innovative approach aligned with our connected communities principles and our values.

About You:

You are a credible and collaborative financial leader who combines strategic thinking with operational delivery. You have:

  • A CIPFA, CCAB, or CIMA qualification with a track record of senior finance leadership in the public sector.
  • Deep understanding of local government finance legislation, accounting standards, and governance.
  • Proven ability to lead large finance teams, influence at senior levels, and thrive in a politically complex environment.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • A passion for public service, and values that align with trust, collaboration, innovation, and accountability.

Why Ealing?

Ealing is one of London’s most diverse and vibrant boroughs. Join a council committed to improving lives, embracing change, and delivering value for money. We offer:

  • Hybrid and flexible working
  • Career development and professional growth
  • A supportive, inclusive workplace with a strong public service ethos
