We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Energy Insights Officer to work across Ealing Council’s utilities portfolio, helping us to deliver reductions in energy costs and carbon emissions. With an overview of the council’s estate, you will be uniquely placed to provide recommendations to decision makers and will directly contribute to our climate goals, helping us manage resources more efficiently.
The role
Using your data skills, you’ll analyse utility use across our estate, uncover trends, and produce reports with insights and recommendations that help our service leads make better decisions. You’ll work closely with colleagues across the council to support energy-saving actions, improve contract performance, and drive behaviour change.
You’ll also ensure our data is accurate and up to date, support compliance with legislation, and oversee short-term projects such as smart meter rollouts and meter upgrades. The role includes managing contractors and supporting procurement processes to make sure we get good value for money from our energy and water suppliers.
We’re looking for someone who is confident working with data, has strong analytical and communication skills, and is comfortable managing projects and relationships across teams. You should have experience in data or energy management, and be able to explain complex information clearly to different audiences.
This is a great opportunity to help shape a greener, more efficient council—and to work with people who care about making a difference. Please see the role profile for more detail.
Who you’ll work with
You’ll be part of the Climate & Sustainability team, but your work will span a wide range of services and be very closely integrated with property services, housing, finance and others. You’ll also engage with external partners such as energy suppliers, water suppliers and contractors.
Skills and experience
Essential to have experience working with data, ideally in energy, utilities or sustainability, and strong organisational skills. High proficiency in Excel is non-negotiable. You will need professional experience in this area and you’ll need to be able to spot trends: this role is about more than data processing, it’s also about analysis, insights and recommendations. Please see the role profile for more details
