Job description

Elthorne Park High School is a successful and significantly oversubscribed 11-18 mixed school with 1400 students including 250 in the Sixth Form, based in Ealing. We are a high-performing school that has risen to become one of the top performing schools in West London and inside the top 250 in the country. In March 2019 Ofsted judged us as outstanding.

With a modern £14 million state of the art building equipped as a centre of excellence, we offer a range of outstanding resources with a particular focus on ICT and new technologies.

We require a Science Technician with the following:

Knowledge, skills and qualities:

  1. Ability to adhere to and implement the school’s equal opportunities policy.
  2. Good organisational skills and ability to set up and follow administrative procedures and systems.
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with both staff and students.
  4. Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  5. Ability to organise and manage resources
  6. Able to Construct and develop equipment and apparatus (involving modification / manufacturing) for teaching purposes.
  7. Ability to carry out basic repairs to equipment, or to liaise with other agencies when necessary.
  8. Ability to make up routine chemical solutions and understand chemical formulae.
  9. An ability to handle chemicals, materials and apparatus with due regard to safety.
  10. A knowledge of health and safety issues within a school Science department.
  11. Ability to apply first aid in an emergency, e.g. to cuts, burns etc.
  12. A good attendance and Health record.

 

Education & Experience

  1. A sound educational background with good literacy and numeracy skills.
  2. Science qualifications in all disciplines to at least GCSE or equivalent.
  3. Either have or be willing to be trained in a First Aid qualification
  4. Competence in the use of ICT
