The Academy is seeking to appoint a talented and committed individual with the qualities, skills and drive necessary to fulfil the key role of Cover Supervisor in the Secondary Phase although flexibility to work in the Primary Phase is essential. The position is to start in September 2022. The role may be of interest to those looking for experience prior to teacher training, with the potential to even complete this with us in the future. We can ensure you gain exposure to your chosen subject area and guide on suitable routes into teaching.
The main purpose of this role is to oversee lessons for teachers who are temporarily absent, whether planned or unexpected. You will be given full support in the post and appropriate training will be in place to ensure you have a smooth transition into the role. The role will give you the opportunity to cover lessons in the Secondary Phase in a range of subjects as well as exposure to the Primary Phase on occasion if necessary or desired.
Working as a Cover Supervisor can be extremely rewarding but also very demanding. There is a high level of responsibility and although there is always a teacher close at hand if needed, there is a large amount of autonomy. On occasions where you are not needed for cover, you may be released to provide additional support to teachers in classrooms, or to carry out administrative tasks.

About you
This role is working term-time only plus 6 Professional Development days. The working week is 36 hours from Monday to Friday commencing at 8.30am. The salary is from £21,828 per annum and has already been pro rated. Salary is dependent upon experience and qualifications. You must be educated to at least A-Level standard and have a GCSE or equivalent Grade C or above / Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Mathematics. Although not essential, applications from those who are degree educated would be favourably welcomed.
