Job description

Here at Ealing Council, our Property Services department provide professional Hard and Soft Facilities Management solutions to a mixed property portfolio of 137 corporate and community based sites (non-housing) including; head office accommodation, libraries, leisure, community centres and sites offering community based services.

We have a passion and vision to deliver a customer centric Facilities Management service delivering best value for the council providing a safe and complaint environment across the property portfolio supporting the council’s staff and building users in the provision of services to local residents and communities.

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and organised individual who enjoys a challenge and can work independently and competently under pressure.

You be a key member of the Building Services team with responsibility as the qualified electrical supervisor (QS), for the council’s NICEIC corporate membership and supervising the quality and compliance of all electrical work to ensure it meets the necessary requirements.

You will also be supporting the NICEIC principal duty holder (PDH) in their role to ensure that;

  • There are safe systems of work in place ensuring that all electrical work undertaken is carried out by competent persons
  • All electrical trade staff and contractors are fully briefed and supervised to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of themselves and the site/building users or visitors at all times

What you will need:

  • Demonstrable level of competency and understanding of the NICEIC standards required for an electrical qualified supervisor with supporting evidence of continued professional development
  • An in-depth knowledge of all H&S legislation and industry standards related to working in the electrical trade environment
  • Substantial and proven experience working within the current BS 7671 and Building Regulations/standards
  • Adept at analysing problems, identifying solutions, and taking decisions independently to resolve issues, understanding the circumstances when escalation may be necessary to senior management i.e. wider implications to business activities or impact to product and services
  • Excellent communicator with ability to analyse data and convey complex technical information in reports, briefings, and presentations for the understanding of both technical and non-technical audiences, at every level up from operational staff to senior management
  • Substantial experience supervising staff and contractors in the technical trade environment
  • Proven ability to prioritise own and others work activities when faced by conflicting priorities in order to achieve tight business deadlines
  • Excellent negotiation skills with proven experience in contract management and service delivery negotiations to achieve desired business outcomes
  • Proficient in full range of MS Office applications, FM business IT systems such as Concerto (CAFM), Trend (BMS) and other building related control systems
    Current BS 7671 qualified

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.

This role is subject to Ealing Council’s enhanced vetting process.
