Job description

The climate action and sustainability team plays a leading role in creating the strategy and actions to support Ealing Council to achieve its commitment to become carbon neutral by 2030. The Domestic Energy Officer will playa critical role delivering an exciting work programme to deliver on our targets and shape our future.

The successful candidate will have the ability to build relationships, think and act strategically and prioritise work that will move the council decisively toward carbon neutrality and ecological recovery. The purpose of the role is:

  • To contribute to the delivery of the council’s climate strategy
  • To contribute to the design and delivery of innovative affordable warmth and energy efficiency programmes to address the problems of fuel poverty and carbon emissions in the borough
  • To support the development and monitoring of energy efficiency and fuel poverty strategies for all housing tenures in Ealing
  • To develop bids and business cases to secure internal and external funding for energy efficiency projects
  • To contribute to the council’s role in relation to meeting our obligations to the Government’s housing energy efficiency policy and legislation.

To be successful in this role you will need the following skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of policy and technical matters relating to the domestic energy efficiency and fuel poverty agendas
  • Understanding of and commitment to the contribution energy efficiency and affordable warmth can make to the promotion of equalities, social inclusion, health and wellbeing
  • Proven ability in collecting, analysing and interpreting statistical data
  • Proven high standard of communication and influencing skills demonstrated by the ability to encourage and develop creative thinking and problem solving, explain complex topics and build relationships and networks internally and externally
  • Ability to work as part of a team, prioritise and organise work and to work on own initiative.

This role is deemed customer facing and as such you must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role. This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.

This role is subject to Ealing Council’s enhanced vetting process.
