LEARNING AND

DEVELOPMENT

We are committed to supporting your learning and development and career potential throughout your time with us. This includes providing you with an effective induction and continued support. We want to ensure you have the right skills and knowledge to perform your role to the best of your ability, and that you feel encouraged to take personal ownership for their learning and development while promoting a culture of lifelong learning.

We are also committed to providing you with equal access to development opportunities. However, there may be some variations with regards to access to certain courses dependent on your role and contractual status.

We have a wide selection of learning and development opportunities, including:

Induction

All new staff will complete a comprehensive induction, which is a blended mix of online learning and demonstration on how to use the devices issued to you.

Digital skills courses

To help our staff keep up to date with the latest technology we run a programme of digital skills courses throughout the year on Microsoft applications including:

  • MS Teams
  • OneNote
  • Outlook
  • Word
  • PowerPoint
  • SharePoint
  • Excel.

Corporate learning

The corporate learning programme covers a range of topics and is delivered using a blend of approaches, such as face to face, virtual and eLearning. Courses include recruitment and selection, personal development, management development, coaching skills, health and safety and equality to name a few. We review our courses regularly to make sure they continue to meet the needs of the individual and the organisation.

Apprenticeships

Working in partnership with a range of specialist providers we can offer a range of training qualifications to staff in different specialist skills areas, all funded by the Apprenticeship Levy. Opportunities are advertised throughout the year. However, if you and your manager identify a qualification that would help you in your current role, you can contact the people and organisational development team for more information.

Departmental learning

Each department organises short and qualification courses to meet the development needs of their staff and to make sure they have the skills to carry out their job effectively.
